Our Sunday services throughout the year usually include an opening procession, singing, Bible readings, prayers for ourselves and others, a sermon, and Communion (Holy Eucharist) where we share bread and wine in remembrance of Jesus Christ and the Last Supper.
All baptized Christians—no matter age or denomination—are welcome to receive communion. We invite all baptized people to receive, not because we take the Eucharist lightly, but because we take our baptism so seriously. Visitors who are not baptized Christians are welcome to come forward during the Communion to receive a blessing.
You may see some movement among those around you during a service, including kneeling, crossing oneself, genuflecting, and bowing. There will be times that the congregation will read or chant in a response and recite creeds collectively. If you are new to a tradition that uses formal prayers and liturgy, we encourage you to participate without any concern for “doing things correctly.” Everything you need to know to participate fully will be provided to you in a detailed worship bulletin and our Guide to Worship available in the narthex. We want your visit to be comfortable so that you may wholly experience God’s presence through worship and fellowship, whether you are just visiting or looking for a church home.
Please be sure to fill out a newcomer card and drop it in the offertory plate so that we may connect with you and answer any questions you may have about St. Paul’s.
See you on Sunday.
