Jesus fulfills all righteousness. He does the will, the entire will, of God. In his complete solidarity with humanity, he takes the sin of the world on as his own, fulfilling all the prophecy in the Old Testament. And in doing so, he invites us to participate in his baptism, so that his righteousness becomes our righteousness as well.
