God gives his church a new way of being community. God allows us to come together as one body. Just as with the Jews and the Gentiles in the church in Ephesus, no longer are two groups alienated from one another, but now we are citizens together in the household of God. We are members of the same family. And the church, unified around Jesus and his sacrifice on the cross, is the first fruit of reconciliation that can that can help reconcile our nation and the world.
