The Interrupting God

God the Father only speaks directly to the world twice in the Gospel of Matthew, and both times He reveals to the world who Jesus is. But at the Transfiguration, God interrupts Peter’s own babbling interruption, and adds, “Listen to him.”

“While Peter was still speaking, suddenly a bright cloud overshadowed them, and from the cloud a Voice said, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved; with him I am well pleased; listen to him.'” Matthew 17.5 (emphasis added)
