Sermons on “Isaiah”

Seeing and Hearing

Jesus speaks into our forgetfulness. He teaches us to hear his voice as he whispers to us, “I am the one who is the everlasting God. I do not faint or grow weary. I am the one who gives power to the faith and strength to the powerless. I am the one who flung the stars across heavens and I call them by name. I am the one who has named you, too. Who you are is numbered in each grain of sand. And you are called beloved.

True Worship

How do you experience worship? Are you filled with a sense of God’s presence? Or do you feel like you are just going through the emotions? Isaiah says that if you are not experiencing God on Sundays, your worship is not the problem. The problem is you are not seeking to live out your faith in the world. Only when you do this will you experience the abiding presence of God on Sunday morning. (Isaiah 58:1-12)
