The Rev. Dr. Kristine Blaess
The Rev. Dr. Kristine Blaess grew up in Bozeman, Montana where she enjoyed hiking and skiing. She received a BA in Music (Organ) from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota and a Master of Divinity degree from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. After seminary, Kristine and her husband Michael were awarded the Graduate Preaching Fellowship and spent a year in Australia studying, visiting Aboriginal communities, and working on a sheep station.
Kristine spent the first decade of ordained ministry serving a congregation in Rigby, Idaho and mentoring congregations and clergy up and down the Snake River Valley. She arrived at St. George’s Church, Nashville, Tennessee in 2012, where she served as Senior Associate Rector. Kristine developed small group and Missional Community ministries, oversaw pastoral care and healing prayer, and was the visionary leader for the church’s partnership with Duke University’s Initiatives in Theology and the Arts. During her tenure, Kristine led the first year of St. George’s church redevelopment partnership with Church of the Resurrection, Franklin, Tennessee. Worship attendance doubled that year at Church of the Resurrection, and the congregation has continued to grow and thrive. Kristine has been a coach and consultant on Discipleship and Mission for clergy and congregations around the nation.
Kristine received a Doctor of Ministry degree from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 2012. Her project emerged from her passion for helping congregations flourish as they seek God’s kingdom and learn to make disciples.
Kristine and Michael are proud parents of Jack and Natalie.
