A Lenten Journey with the Inklings
Lent can be a dry and lonely trudge through a spiritual wilderness of life, death, suffering, and self-denial. What if we had the Inklings as our companions? For nearly two decades between the early 1930s and late 1949 this informal gathering of British writers such as C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and other notables associated with Oxford University regularly met in a corner of The Eagle and Child pub (commonly known as the Bird and Baby or simply just the Bird). From their discussions and out of their writings come dancing lights and profound insights into the mysteries of Christian faith. For five weeks we’ll join their conversations at the Bird with the Rev. Joseph Cejka, and our Lenten journey will never seem burdensome again.
